Congrats to Yoshiko Jo, the May Runner of the Month.
Yoshiko is a regular at the Media runs. She is well-nown for her distance running abilities. She has completed the infamous BadWater Ultramarathon. She has an amazing ability to recover from marathons, completing three Boston Qualifiers in the month of April (WOW!!!!). She is often a guest pacer for marathons too. Mot importantly, Yoshiko brings an incredible enthusiasm, warm smile, and positive energy to the club!
Why do you run with BMRC? — I joined BMRC in 2002 when I moved from NJ to Swarthmore. I run with BMRC simply because I really like people here. I also enjoy events at the club very much!! Thursday night at BMRC, Media, is my party time!
I run because — I love seeing the season is changing when I run.
Target race this season — My target race is in summer. Badwater 135.
Favorite race — Zion 100, Monument Vally 100, Boston marathon (12 in a row) and New York City marathon (ran 16 times). And, Philadelphia Marathon!!!!!
Proudest running moment — Completed Badwater 135 in 2015. It took me 41 hours 57 minutes and 10 seconds. I took three 7-10 minute short naps, and kept running.
Favorite BMRC run — Bobtober Fest
Favorite cheat food — Box of Shortbread cookies from Big Island Candies (Hawaii)
When I’m not running I’m — Cooking Japanese style breakfast.
Advice to new runners — BMRC is fun!! Just come to any workout!! Group run on Wednesday (Bryn Mawr) and Thursday (Media) hosts many fun events for all levels of runners.
